Overview

Emil Kjæhr will be in Trondheim to talk about Funday Games' journey from work-for-hire company to co-development.

Funday Games has existed for 14 years and shipped over 50 titles. Over the years, the company has shifted focus from a small work-for-hire company with a handful of employees and clients, to an established studio with 60 employees and several co-development titles under their belt, the latest of which is Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, and sold 500.000 copies in it's first week on Steam.

Emil Kjæhr is the Head of Product & Partnerships at Funday Games. He's worked with a lot of IPs ranging from LEGO Star Wars and Marvel to Deep Rock Galactic. In his talk, Emil will cover how to adapt when shifting from work-for-hire to co-development, challenges with new IP development, and how to approach IPs and pitching if you're considering co-development.

We find the growth journey of Funday Games inspiring and have invited Emil here to Trondheim to talk with us about their journey and some of the mistakes they've made along the way, so we can learn more. Creating original IP is challenging in this market and has it's limitations on growth in the games industry. We believe it is important to remember that there are options to keep developing games in other ways and building a sustainable business.

We believe that Funday Games is a great example of that and we're thrilled that Emil is willing to jump all the way up to Trondheim to talk with us about these issues.
