About this event

From Here(ish) is back Friday, September 5th with another stacked lineup of comedians exploring identity, culture, and all the funny, awkward, and absurd moments in between.

We're bringing seven of the city's sharpest comics—regulars at DC staples like The Improv, Hotbed, Room808, and beyond. These comedians are fresh off regional tours, club sets, and late-night writing rooms, ready to drop new jokes that hit close to home (and far from it).

📍 Big Bear Café is located in the heart of Bloomingdale, and we’re taking over the cozy second floor (please note: it’s only accessible by stairs).

🕕 Doors open at 6:00 PM. We highly recommend arriving by 6:15 to:

  • Grab a seat (the room fills fast),
  • Find street parking,
  • And most importantly—order some delicious food and drinks before the show kicks off at 7:00 PM sharp.

🚫 No outside food or drink. Why would you want to anyway? Big Bear makes incredible inside food and drink.

Come laugh with us—and maybe see yourself in the punchlines.

If you've scrolled this far, you're probably thinking, "this looks interesting but who's Mahmoud? And why should I spend my precious weekend at his show?"

I'm glad you scrolled/asked.

I'm a Beirut-made and now DC-based comedian who's been part of sold-out shows like Funny Arabs at the Kennedy Center, the We Up comedy competition at the DC Comedy Loft, and the Read the Room crowd work show at the DC Improv.

My goal is to take a tiny, unique bit of every show I've been part of in Beirut, Brussels, and DC for the past seven years and channel it into the event you're reading about now.

If I'm successful, this will probably be the greatest event of all of our lives, and all for the price of (scroll back up and read the ticket price for this part?!)
