Overview

Learn to recognize subtle freeze responses and guide clients toward safe, embodied healing using Somatic Experiencing® techniques.

Freeze responses can be some of the most misunderstood and overlooked states in therapy, especially when they show up subtly. In this experiential workshop, you’ll learn how to recognize the physical, emotional, and relational signs of freeze, and how to guide clients toward safe and sustainable mobilization, re-engagement, and reconnection. Drawing from Somatic Experiencing® principles, we’ll explore concrete, trauma-responsive interventions that help clients release stored survival energy without overwhelm, restore a sense of flow, and expand their capacity for agency. You’ll walk away with immediately applicable tools, a deeper felt understanding of freeze, and more confidence supporting clients through these stuck states.

Learning ObjectivesBy the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify key somatic indicators of freeze responses in clients, including subtle physical, emotional, and relational cues.
  2. Apply three concrete, trauma-informed practices to gently mobilize clients’ nervous systems without overwhelming them.
  3. Support clients in restoring flow and agency through titrated movement, orienting, and resourcing practices.
