How to identify triggers, slow down reactions, and turn moments of anger into opportunities for deeper understanding and partnership.
Description:
This course is needed now, more than ever. Anger is a normal human emotion, given to us by G-d and wired into our nervous system to alert us to danger, to motivate us to protect ourselves and our personal space and territory when we feel unsafe or to set firm limits when someone has crossed a boundary.
However, anger must be used strategically, purposefully and with calm intentionality so that it serves its real purpose. Anger can get out of control and harm us and those upon whom we vent our anger. In this class, we will:
- Discuss how anger can be useful as well as harmful.
- Discuss methods to control and direct our anger constructively.
- Discuss how to recognize the predators, who try to control us with their disrespect, anger and hate – whether it’s the anti-Semites on the street or people in our own families.
- Discuss how to maintain our sense of self-worth despite such people.
