This course aims to equip social work professionals with the knowledge and skills to understand the impact of trauma on individuals to implement trauma -informed care strategies in their work. The course covers the three main types of trauma, the Six Guiding Principles of Trauma-Informed Care and clinical interventions for clinicians.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will:
- Define trauma and differentiate it from trauma myths and falsehoods
- Identify and discuss three main types of trauma
- Identify and discuss the Six Guiding Principles of Trauma-Informed Care
- Categorize and discuss interventions using appropriate trauma-informed care strategies for client populations experiencing or who have previously experienced trauma
