Freshkills Park will be holding a Kayak volunteer closer and paddle to close out the 2025 paddling season!
Volunteers will assist staff in cleaning and preparing our kayaks, paddles, pfds, and kayak access launch in preparation for the closing out the 2025 season of paddling. Lunch will be provided. In between we will paddle around the launch area. Please note this is not a kayak tour. Please note, participants must be 16 years or older.

Your ticket admits 1 car. All participants must provide their own car that will stay on-site the whole time. Participants may not use a bicycle, taxi or ride-share service due to ongoing construction. Each ticket holder may bring up to 4 additional guests in their car. During registration you will be asked about additional participants in your car. Due to limited reservations, carpooling with friends and family is encouraged. All participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Accessibility: This tour will be an approximately two-mile round-trip paddle. If you have any accessibility needs, please let us know in advance so we can best accommodate you. This program is open to 16+.
Plan Ahead: Be “tick aware” and “heat aware.” Wear sturdy shoes that you don’t mind getting muddy and wet, clothes that can get wet, and sunscreen. Stay hydrated and make sure to bring water with you. All participants will be asked to sign an activity waiver before entering the park. Those under 18 need to have the waiver signed by a parent or guardian and be accompanied by an adult.
Location: We will meet just before the DSNY Gate at 1000 West Service Road in Staten Island.
