Freelancer Skills Series
Culture Sheffield and Fair Collective bring you a ten part training series which gives freelancers the chance to build new skills, grow their networks, and explore opportunities for income, collaboration and visibility within the city’s vibrant cultural and visitor economy.
Each session will be focused on a different topic relating to your creative freelance practice, based on the feedback and suggestions from Sheffields freelance community.
Workshop 4 - Protecting Your Creative Practice: Managing boundaries and protecting your rights as a freelancer. [online workshop]
The Showcasing Sheffield project is all about celebrating Sheffield's distinctive cultural scene while helping local creatives thrive. This training series gives freelancers the chance to build new skills, grow their networks, and explore opportunities for income, collaboration and visibility within the city's vibrant cultural and visitor economy.
Freelancers deserve to feel secure and respected in their work. This engaging, interactive session will help freelancers strengthen their professional boundaries and protect their rights. Through clear contractual and interpersonal practices you'll learn how well-structured working arrangements can prevent project management headaches and keep collaborations positive and productive.
Expect interactive exercises exploring the people side of freelancing and give you confidence to advocate for yourself professionally.
Some of the questions and topics we'll consider:
- Key elements to include in contracts.
- Building professional relationships that respect your time, expertise and boundaries.
- Spotting problematic client behaviours early.
- What to do when working relationships become difficult.
- Managing changing project requirements and project expectations.
Whether you're just starting out or looking to professionalise your existing practice, you'll leave with practical tools, greater confidence, and a clearer understanding of how to navigate client relationships with clarity, confidence, and mutual respect.
