Free Yaakub Open Mic Fundraiser - Washington DC
Overview
Join us at Neptune Room for a special Open Mic night of community, performance, and to fundraise for Jacob "Yaakub" Vijandre -- a Dallas-area activist, DACA recipient, and artist who used his platform to document Palestinian rights advocacy and human-rights activism. In October, he was detained by ICE and has yet to be released. This isn’t just about Yaakub. It’s about the safety and dignity of every immigrant and the protection of our First Amendment rights.
Between Open Mic performances, hear from Yaakub himself as we recite notes he has shared with us while in detention. A letter writing station will also be available to write letters to Yaakub that will be mailed to him.
Suggested Donation: $20.00 (or pay what you are able)
