What should I wear and bring?

Wear comfortable fitness clothes for this event.  Maybe shorts and a t-shirt.  We keep our studio nicer and cool, and you will be bare footed on the mat.  We have a drinking fountain and bottle filler, but consider bringing a water bottle for yourself.

What ages of people will be there?

This workshop will blend teens and adults, and until you shop up, we won't know exactly who plans to participate.  We work to have teens work with teens, and adult work with adults.  This is not an intense setting, but rather, casual and welcoming.  You'll have fun with other participants.

Question 3

What kind of principles will be discussed?

We like to inform participants about situational awareness, fighting back like your life depends on it, using your voice with confidence, and the importance of aiming to injure your attacker so you have time to escape.

Question 4

What kind of skills will I work on?

Accepted Answer

This will depend on the class, but because being grabbed and pulled by the wrist, chocked at the neck with two hands, being grabbed by a bear hug, etc., are very common attacks, we'll start by teaching you the defenses for these.

Am I going to get hurt?

This is a free workshop setting, so we're working only to give you basic skills as well as help you understand if ongoing training is something that might be a good fit for you.  This is a low-strength, low-speed, low-intensity trial.  Any strength and confidence is suitable for this event.

Question 6

Am I going to be asked to pay for something?

Accepted Answer

NO.  This event is 100% free.  Any equipment needed will be provided.  You will have the opportunity to learn more about our program, if ongoing training is of interest, but we are a NO PRESSURE business.  You will get a free, helpful training session ... NOT a hard sell.
