About this Workshop:
You may have seen shows like "Whose Line is it Anyway?" or perhaps you've seen some other improv shows in the Baltimore area.
In this workshop, experienced clown practitioner and improviser Matt Kaiser introduces the concept of "clownprov!"
So what is clownprov?! It's not putting on whiteface, funny wigs and big shoes like you may have seen at the circus!
In this 2 hour workshop, you'll learn that clown comes from INSIDE. You'll learn how to see things from a clown point of view, and be able to think as a clown may think. For the first hour, we'll explore the world of the clown, and interact with no or very few words. Then, we'll combine this with improvisation for the second hour!
This event is best suited for adults. No experience necessary in either clowning or improvisation, this is open to beginners.
About the facilitator:
Matt Kaiser has taught comedy workshops at the Hussman Center for Adults with Autism as well as Itineris and Howard County Parks. Matt has experience in stand up comedy, improvisation and clowning. He has taken comedy classes at Towson University with Tomi Casciero as well as Second City in Chicago, Baltimore Improv Group, DC Improv, and has worked with professional performers Mark Jaster, Drew Richardson, and others.
About the venue:
There is a decent amount of free street parking around the meeting venue, as well as a free parking lot on the corner of St. Paul and 20th Street.
Someone from the group will wait outside at the entrance before (and a little bit after) the start of the event to welcome you in.
