FREE Senior Tech Class Winter Program at the University of Detroit Mercy!
Detroit, MI — The Senior Tech Class is a free eight-week program aimed at teaching older adults essential digital skills. It begins on October 18 at the University of Detroit Mercy, running every Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Room 138 of the Commerce and Finance Building. The program concludes with a graduation luncheon on December 13 at the Northwest Activities Center.
This winter term covers vital online safety topics, including:
- Avoiding Phishing Scams and Online Fraud
- Recognizing and Preventing Viruses and Malware
- Best Practices for Mobile Banking and Online Shopping (with a guest speaker from PNC Bank)
- Setting Strong Passcodes and Using Facial Recognition
- The Dangers of Clicking Unknown Links or Opening Suspicious Emails
Instructor Clayton Cortez encourages all seniors to join, emphasizing a supportive learning environment. Family members and caregivers are welcome to attend select sessions as well.
