Behind the Frontlines: Free Investigative Film Screening “Vika’s Last Assignment”

Behind every report from the frontlines, there are journalists who risk their lives to tell the truth. Vika’s Last Assignment sheds light on one such story — that of Ukrainian journalist Viktoria Roshchyna, who set out to document life under Russian occupation and never returned.

A special screening of the “Vika’s Last Assignment” will take place at Cinematheque Leipzig on 22nd of October, 19:30. Following the screening, there will be an online Q&A session with the journalists behind this investigative film.

The documentary follows Viktoria’s final reporting trip to Russian-occupied territories, where she was detained and imprisoned in the Taganrog SIZO-2 detention centre. Journalists from Slidstvo.Info, together with colleagues from Reporters Without Borders, Suspilne, and Graty, retraced her path, uncovered the conditions of her imprisonment, and gathered testimonies from those who saw and communicated with her — revealing the brutality of repression faced by reporters in wartime.
