One of the most requested areas of training we have received is to do more scenario based problem solving. So now is your chance to bridge the gap between theory and practice by using real life challenges in a controlled environment.
Training Description: Domestic Violence Scenario-Based Tabletop Exercise
This tabletop exercise is designed to strengthen participants’ understanding, coordination, and response to domestic violence incidents in a safe and structured learning environment. Using a realistic scenario, participants will walk through the decision-making process, role responsibilities, and interagency coordination required to address a case of domestic violence effectively.
The exercise will:
- Increase awareness of the dynamics and warning signs of domestic violence.
- Provide an opportunity to explore appropriate interventions while prioritizing victim safety and offender accountability.
- Enhance collaboration between law enforcement, social services, healthcare providers, advocacy groups, and other community partners.
- Identify potential gaps in policies, communication, and resources.
- Encourage discussion of trauma-informed practices and culturally sensitive responses.
Following each scenario, a facilitated debrief will allow participants to reflect on lessons learned, share perspectives, and develop action steps to improving real-world coordination.
This training is appropriate for professionals working in law enforcement, victim advocacy, prosecution and family advocacy center advocates, social services, healathcare, mental health and community based organizations.
Submitted Scenarios Due by November 17th
To make this training more customized, we would love to incorporate any difficult DV situations that either you are currently dealing with or have dealt with in the past and would like to debrief around some different solutions.
If this is something you are interested in, please email a scenario (please don't use names, just titles i.e. wife, husband child etc.)
Send it to Connie Chapman at avaaacademy@gmail.com by 11/17. The staff will review them and pick some to address in the training.
