The City of Newark Division of Arts and Cultural Affairs is excited to offer a series of free photography workshops for beginners and emerging photographers in partnership with HYCIDE XPANSE, a new immersive art space in the heart of Newark's Arts and Education District. Classes are facilated by photographer Erik James Montgomery. Space is limted so register today.

Introduction to Digital Photography
Designed for adult beginners, this workshop will cover essential camera functions, composition techniques, lighting, and visual storytelling principles. Participants will leave with a foundational understanding of photography and renewed confidence in their creative expressions.

Introduction to Photojournalism/Documentary Photography
This four-session series will introduce adult participants to the powerful role of photography in documenting truth and raising awareness. Topics will include advanced camera functions and techniques, ethical engagement, narrative development, visual literacy, and caption writing. Note: participants will need a digital camera.
