Frequently asked questions

What is a microchip?

A microchip is a tiny electronic chip, about the size of a grain of rice, that’s placed under your pet’s skin. It contains a unique ID number that will help reunite your pet, if the pet is lost.

Is microchipping painful for the pet?

The procedure is quick and similar to a routine vaccination; most pets barely react.

Is microchipping the same as GPS tracking?

No, microchips do NOT track location.

Isn't a tag on the pet's collar enough?

While ID tags are great, they can fall off or be removed. A microchip is a permanent form of ID that stays with your pet for life, giving them a better chance of being returned to you.

Do I need to update my information after microchipping?

Yes! Always update phone number and/or address on the microchip should you move during the pet's lifetime.

Do I need a ticket?

Yes, please choose a time frame that works for you and print a free ticket.

How many pets can I get microchipped for free at this event.

In order to make it fair for everyone, we will microchip a maximum of 2 pets per individual or family.

I'd like to get 2 pets microchipped. How many tickets should I download?

You would download 2 tickets - 1 for each pet.

If it's free, why do I need a ticket?

We have supplies to microchip 100 pets. The ticket reserves one of those microchips.

Anything else I need to know?

Please have your dog on a non-retractable leash. Cats must be in a carrier. Two pets per individual or family.
