The Free Sample class is a chance for anyone who has never done improv to try it out for just a bite for free!
The sample class happens from 7:00-7:30.
Aa s a bonus enticement to try something new, the 8:00 show is free to anyone who participates in the sample class!
About our Curriculum
Our teaching approach and philosophy centers on Chicago/NYC style "longform" scene improvisation, which focuses on character development, collaborative agreement and world-building similar to what is used in shows like This Week Sucked and Breeders. Some of the most famous actors and comedians you see today were taught longform improvisation, including main characters in Ted Lasso, 30Rock, The Office, MST3K and others.
In this half-hour test drive we will warm up and have an abreviated lesson on the foundations of improvised scene work through "Yes, And". It will be fully participitory - so be prepared to play!
Students will have the ability to collaborate with others in a safe, fun environment and this brief class is for folks with no prior longform improv experience.
A few things to know:
- Please reserve a spot via a donation-based ticket so we know who is coming. The workshop is free but will begin promptly at 7:00.
- A show happens right after this class and you may also attend that for free! Please know that some performers may be coming into the space durring the class to prepare for the show at 8:00.
