About Gabriela Serra (she/her):

A multidisciplinary artist, Gabriela Serra is a certified Restorative Justice circle-keeper and urban farmer. Born in Caracas, Venezuela, and currently based in Miami, Florida, and San Juan, Puerto Rico, her practice encompasses filmmaking, photography, and community facilitation. Through workshops and support circles, she focuses on exploring and regenerating relationships—between humans and non-humans, bodies and the land, and present selves with ancestral histories. She co-creates intergenerational spaces where oral tradition is practiced and honored.

VIZCAYA FAMILY PROGRAMS

Family Garden Program is Vizcaya’s nature-inspired family garden program designed to spark imagination and connection through seasonal activities. Each session invites children and their caregivers to explore the garden through play-based learning, art-making, sensory discovery, and ecological storytelling, inviting participants to engage with South Florida’s native plants and ecosystems in playful and meaningful ways. By using natural materials and highlighting cultural and scientific plant knowledge, the series fosters environmental stewardship, emotional expression, and community connection—all rooted in the healing power of nature.

Led by local teaching artists, children will engage in hands-on projects using natural materials, learn about Florida’s ecosystems, and take home a unique creation each time

This series is designed to create opportunities for intergenerational interactions among families with young children (ages 6-12).

As such, orders that do not include a child ticket may be canceled. Family Garden is a seasonal, nature-based program designed to connect children and families to plants, creativity, and wellness through hands-on experiences.

To promote inclusion for all, Vizcaya ensures that all community programs, after-hour and weekend events for locals, feature activities that are physically accessible to all visitors. While not all areas of the estate are wheelchair accessible, community programs are purposefully located in areas without stairs or that can be accessed via a ramp.
