FREE BAKLAVA BAKING CLASS
Overview
WHAT IS BAKLAVA?
- Baklava is a rich, sweet pastry made of layers of filo dough.
- It is typically filled with chopped nuts, such as walnuts, or pistachios.
- The layers are sweetened and held together with honey or syrup.
- Baklava is often flavored with spices like cinnamon or cardamom.
- It is a popular dessert in Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisines.
- The pastry is usually cut into diamond or square shapes before serving.
You can purchase the Filo dough at Walmart. Two come in the package you will need 1 for class. Filo dough is extremely fragile so handle it like eggs. Keep it frozen until a day or two before your scheduled class then put it in the fridge the night before class OR bring it out to thaw on the counter EARLY on the day of your scheduled class.
Walmart butter is the best because it has less cream (bring 6 sticks).
2 cups of your preferred nuts, almond aren't recommended.
We recommend a 9x13 pan that does not have rounded edges like the glass pans have. Bring pan with " L shaped/pointy" edges like the stainless steel pans have.
This is a 4 HOUR CLASS over the lunch hour. We recommend you bring a snack or a sack lunch.
