Foundations of the Portuguese Language with Professora Moana
Overview
About your Teacher: Proffesora Moana has more than 20 years experience teaching Portuguese, Spanish and ESL. Having lived in both Brasil and Spain, she believes learning language opens doors to rich expiriences that one could never have otherwise. Proffesora Moana has a Master's degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. She is known for quality, effective teaching that students enjoy, while focusing on communication and highlighting necessarry grammar and vocabulary. Her classes will include meaningful fun conversations essential for retention.
This workshop-style online course will introduce English speakers to some of the fundamental principles behind the reading, speaking and writing of Brazilian Portuguese.
Foundations I will emphasize (1) the sounds of Portuguese and their correspondence with written conventions, (2) the building of sentences through the use of verbs in the present tense, and (3) the acquisition of practical, everyday vocabulary. In Foundations II we will learn past and future tenses.
Grammar and vocabulary presentations will be complemented with in-class practice and approximately a half-hour of exercises outside of the class time. No previous experience with Portuguese is necessary!
Foundations of the Portuguese Language I classes: Tuesdays and Thursdays 7- 8pm January 13, 15, 20, 22, 27, and 29.
Foundations of the Portuguese Language II classes: Tuesdays and Thursdays
8:15pm - 9:15pm January 13, 15, 20, 22, 27, and 29.
