About this event

Family & Education • Children & Youth

New! This training is a new APOST offering, as it's part of the Social & Emotional Learning Youth Work Methods, a recently development series, from the Weikart Center for Program Quality.

Workshop Requirement

This workshop is part of a sequence which should be taken in this order:

  1. Foundations & Self-Awareness of Social Development.
  2. Fostering Teamwork
  3. Promoting Responsibility & Leadership

You must take Foundations & Self-Awareness of Social Development first. It's being offered on Aug 22 & Sept 19.

We strongly encourage registering for and taking all three workshops in a single season, because they build off one another.

Workshop Description

Teamwork – for some of us the word generates excitement, for some of us dread. With time, support, and facilitation youth workers can help young people have both strong teambuilding skills and a sense of trust and group identity.

Participants in this workshop will learn and apply group norm building and facilitation techniques. Time will be spent applying and scaffolding techniques to support young people in managing their communication styles and applying reframing conflict skills.

Workshop Facilitators:

Chelsea Freeman, Owner, Freeman's YOUnique Education Consulting

& Weston White, Associate Director, YouthPlaces
