About this event

Join us for Forward Motion: A Community Festival on Saturday, October 25, from 12–4 PM at Port City / ArtHouse RVA. This free, family-friendly event celebrates our newest mural by artist Nico Cathcart with an afternoon of art, food, music, and community.

At 1 PM, gather at the mural for remarks from community leaders and the artist, followed by a powerful live performance from Brown Ballerinas for Change. Explore our gallery pop-up, try your hand at screenprinting with Studio Two Three, enjoy local food trucks, and bring the kids for crafts and face painting. Come experience a day of creativity and connection with neighbors of all ages.

Event Highlights:

  • 1:00 PM Mural Remarks & Guest Performance — remarks from community leaders and artist Nico Cathcart, followed by a live performance from Brown Ballerinas for Change
  • Gallery Pop-Up — works by local artists inspired by the theme Forward Motion
  • Hands-On Screenprinting — try out Studio Two Three’s screenprinting truck (bonus: bring your own shirt to print on!)
  • Food Trucks — Pay-What-You-Will food trucks presented by the Richmond Black Restaurant Experience in tandem with artoberVA
  • Kid’s Crafts — face painting and craft tables with fun activities for toddlers and kids
