About this event

Health • Personal health

Minnowburn is an ancient woodland, just 20 minutes drive from Belfast city centre, and close to the 5,000-year-old Giant's Ring.

This is a perfect spot to reconnect with nature and be energised by the healing powers of trees.

Shinrin Yoku (Forest Bathing) originated in Japan but is becoming increasingly popular in other countries.

Scientific research has found that trees produce organic compounds which activate the human body’s natural killer cells and boost the immune system.

These compounds also help to reduce our stress levels, lower our blood pressure and slow our heart rate.

Studies carried by the NHS Health Research Authority have endorsed evidence that spending time in woodland, particularly in a mindful way, can improve our health..

It is also the perfect way to switch off from the stresses of modern life and to reconnect with nature.

Join Tony Bailie, one of the few qualified Forest Therapy Practitioners on the island of Ireland, and experience Forest Bathing for yourself.
