For Your Grammy Consideration-QUEEN SHEBA "A Hurricane In Heels"
Overview
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
QUEEN SHEBA ANNOUNCES 11TH ALBUM “A HURRICANE IN HEELS: healed people don’t act like that” –––THE MOST AMBITIOUS SPOKEN WORD-POETRY RECORD OF HER CAREER---
ATLANTA, GA — August 28, 2025 — Two-time consecutive GRAMMY® nominee Queen Sheba returns with A HURRICANE IN HEELS: healed people don’t act like that—a high-production, live-wired Spoken Word-Poetry album partially recorded at City Winery venues nationwide. After presenting on the GRAMMY stage earlier this year and earning back-to-back nominations (2024 & 2025), Queen Sheba enters this season as a leading contender with a body of work that pushes the genre’s sound, scope, and cultural footprint forward while chronicling healing in real time.
The album is both a craft leap and a testimony. In 2023, Queen Sheba survived a traumatic brain injury and rebuilt her voice, memory, and method piece by piece. That climb powers these performances—live, intimate, and meticulously produced—bridging the urgency of the stage with the polish of the studio. Industry peers consistently describe Sheba as “easy to work with,” “a natural leader,” and “the artist the poetry community trusts.” Twenty-four years into a global career, she delivers the sharpest writing, the cleanest mixes, and the most charismatic performances of her catalog.
Star collaborators amplify the record’s reach: Divinity Roxx—master bassist and Hip-Hop artist who launched to global fame as Beyoncé’s musical low-end engine—lays thunder under Sheba’s wordplay; Albe Back (poet/MC, ATL) sparks cinematic chemistry; and returning GRAMMY-nominated producers D Bottz and Mike Blayz—with credits spanning legends from Big Daddy Kane to Raheem DeVaughn—anchor a sonic palette that is both modern and unmistakably Sheba. Their camp sought Sheba out after her last album because her work resonates across scenes and generations. The result: the most fully realized Queen Sheba album to date.
Queen Sheba’s leadership extends off-record: Atlanta GRAMMY Chapter member since 2008; multi-year GRAMMY U mentor; educator and curator who has championed poets on major stages while modeling professional excellence. Colleagues know her as decisive, accountable, and generous—qualities heard in the music and felt in the room.
“This album is what healing sounds like while the sutures are still fresh,” says Queen Sheba. “We performed these poems with the audience breathing next to us, then produced them like records. That tension—live truth and studio precision—is the point.”

THE ALBUM
A Hurricane in Heels captures every side of Sheba — from razor-sharp wordplay to vulnerable confession — even leaving in the hilarious, off-the-cuff banter from the live tracks so audiences experience the full range of her personality and pen.
Spotlight Tracks (Radio/Editorial Ready)
- “Rescue Construction (rush)” — An anthemic build of strings, bass, and soaring hooks where Sheba architects survival into a blueprint. Big chorus, big drums, undeniable replay value.
- “So What!?”-A positive twist to breaking up, ft. Divinity Roxx & Darien Alexander — cheeky, lyrical, and unapologetic, with two surprise master bassists and Hip-Hop twist.
- “Barbie On Fire” — ft. Bella Blaq & Spaceman Shawty — the fiery, radio-ready closer. A fierce, witty breakout from performative love into self-possession—summer-club energy with quotable bars and a hook that sticks. Bella Blaq, new co-star on STARZ’s P-Valley Season 3, joins rising Atlanta Hip-Hop star and 2x GRAMMY participant Spaceman Shawty for a bold, unforgettable album finale.
- “45/47 (DONALD!)” — Perfectly timed for the Democratic National Convention news cycle; a sharp, galvanizing live cut that belongs on every Democratic platform and on MSNBC/CNN panels until 45/47 is out of office.
- “Life In The Fast Brain” — Neurodivergent brilliance scored like a film cue; propulsive production turns introspection into motion.
“A Hurricane in Heels” also features cathartic standouts like “Prodigal Mom,” “Love Is Not a Contract to Suffer,” and “My Name Is Not ‘Beth.’” Across the project, Sheba pairs middle-and-end rhyme with theater-grade storytelling, lifting Spoken Word-Poetry to arena-ready scale without losing the breath-to-breath humanity that made her essential.
Queen Sheba has learned to accept the apologies she will never receive & continued anyway - With A HURRICANE IN HEELS, Sheba delivers the benchmark Spoken Word-Poetry album of the year—bold in message, elite in sound, and built for culture-shifting moments.
THE IMPACT
A Hurricane in Heels is bold. It’s unapologetic. It will have you putting tracks on repeat, singing along to Spoken Word, and wondering why no one told you poetry could make you feel like this.
For Your GRAMMY Consideration — in the Spoken Word-Poetry category — A Hurricane in Heels: healed people don’t act like that.
Queen Sheba. The hurricane. The healer. The woman who turned two near-death experiences, a broken heart, a brain injury, and triumphs into an album the world will never remove from their list of favorites.
