Berthe is Dead but it’s Okay by Sacha Trilles (Switzerland, 2024, 38 min.)
Writer and director Sacha Trilles accompanies his grandmother, Berthe, on an unexpected final journey. Spotted at the Champs-Élysées Film Festival and winner of the France Télévisions Prize, Trilles crafts a raw, poetic, and deliciously kitsch tribute: part video art, part filmed diary, blending humor and memory into a dazzling portrait.
The film is one of 12 pre-selected short films running for the Best Short Documentary Film at the 2026 César Awards in Paris.
Special guest: Sacha Trilles in person.
Followed by the main film:
Late Shift by Petra Volpe (Switzerland/Germany, 2025, 92 min.)
Late Shift is a touching drama that explores caregivers’ almost intolerable workload. Single-mother Floria (Leonie Benesch, The Crown, The Teachers’ Lounge) works as a nurse at an understaffed surgical ward. While dedicatedly trying to care for her patients’ emotional and medical needs, the relentless pace at her hospital turns her shift into a nerve-racking race against the clock.
The film is the official Swiss submission for the International Feature Film category at the 2026 Academy Awards.
Special guest: Petra Volpe in conversation virtually
Both films are presented within one screening.
