About this event

Film & Media • Film

The Kozmetsky Center for Civic Engagement at St. Edward's University has teamed up with the Texas Tribune to organize a public screening of For the Record, an award-winning documentary about the Canadian press, featured on PBS. The film highlights the challenges facing local journalism, particularly the decline of rural newspapers, and sparks an important conversation about the consequences for democracy, civic life, and informed citizenship.

A panel discussion after the film will explore the role of a free press in democracy, the loss of rural newspapers and what it means for community life, and how citizens can stay informed in an era of shrinking local media.
