"For The Good Of The Realm" ~ ALBUM Release Ritual ~

You are invited to a community gathering of ritualized listening and discussion, in honor of Amanda West's newest album release, "For The Good of The Realm"

ABOUT THE ALBUM

"For The Good Of The Realm" ~ songs for tying and untying the knots ~ is a full length concept album, exploring the journey of marriage and divorce through ancestral, academic, emotional and spiritual lenses. Beyond that, it is a universal story of love and liberation, and the quest to claim one's own life as an offering for The Good Of The Realm.

Nine original compositions written across a period of 15 years, between 2008 and 2023, plus two traditional songs from the Celtic Isles ("She Moved Through The Fair" and "Silver Dagger") weave together themes of inheritance, stories, change and transformation. Dripping with vulnerability and power, this collection of songs marks Amanda's boldest contribution yet, to the conversation of what it is to be human.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE RELEASE RITUAL

We will gather on zoom, and create an intentional listening & feeling container. Amanda will perform the album live, and afterwards there will be a optional community discussion to share the impacts of the album and explore some of the following questions ~

• What is marriage? What does it mean to me?
• What did marriage mean for my ancestors? What would I like it to be for my descendants?
• What ancestral memories and trauma do I carry and how do they impact my life choices?
• Change - what causes it, and why are we afraid of it?
• What is truly "easier"?
• What is freedom, and what is healing?
• What new story would I like to tell?

This album is inspired and made possible by the work of Stephanie Coontz, Glennon Doyle, some wonderful therapists, many amazing friends, and the power of somatic listening

ABOUT AMANDA WEST

Offering Mindfulness, Medicine & Magic through Song ~

Amanda West is a song catcher/writer/doula, community leader, music & creativity coach, mother, and ever-evolving human.

In a lifetime devoted to music she has brought song to the thresholds of birth and death, life rituals, spiritual centers, recordings, festivals and performances throughout the West Coast of the U.S. and parts of Europe. She released her first album in 2000 at age 17. Since then she has released multiple singles and 8 more albums. "For The Good Of The Realm" will be her 10th.

In 2022, in response to the growing climate & global crises, Amanda founded The Covered Bridge Intergenerational Community Choir - an all ages group that sings medicine songs for resilience, hope and connection. She coaches music students of all ages, helping them find their voice, power and purpose through song. She leads regular community rituals, performs intimate concerts, mothers her two children, and lives an unconventional life along the West Coast of the U.S.

Understanding music to be a part of our human birthright playing an essential role in our experience of being alive, Amanda is passionate about its power to support the rebirthing of ourselves into a more beautiful, sustainable world.
