IAVA Course is FSPCA's 1 Day Curriculum recognized by FDA as adequate to become Food Defense Qualified Individual as required by 21 CFR 121.

Mitigation Strategies to Protect Food Against Intentional Adulteration Rule (21 CFR 121) is the newest part of Food Safety Modernization Act. The rule requires businesses that hold, pack, process or manufacture food to conduct vulnerability assessment to identify significant vulnerabilities. Significant vulnerabilities become actionable process steps for which the business must identify mitigation strategies along with management components. All these activities must be conducted by Food Defense Qualified Individual / Individuals. In order to become Qualified Individual a person must complete training according to standardized curriculum recognized by FDA or qualify through job experience. Intentional Adulteration Vulnerability Assessment Course by FSPCA is one way to become qualified individual.
