Learning to focus stack will make photography more rewarding. It opens up new possibilities and gives you ways to make photos you never thought possible.
“Depth-of-field” is how you keep near and far subjects in focus and sharp. Using a smaller aperture increases depth-of-field (keeping more of your photo in focus), but it’s not always enough. That where you need focus stacking.
Focus stacking takes a series of photos, focused at different distances, and stacks them together so the entire image is sharp and in focus. It takes a little more work with your camera and in post-processing, but can produce stunning results.
This workshop is designed to help you get started with focus stacking. You’ll learn how to use Helicon Focus software to produce a focus stack, including the settings to use, and how to retouch problem areas. You’ll learn how to capture focus stacks with your camera. You’ll also learn settings, strategies, and when focus stacking will and won’t work.
Included with this class are example files you can use to practice with, which will help you get started faster and build confidence in your skills. These example files include diffraction tests that will teach you how to choose the sharpest aperture for your lens and get the best results.
This class is recorded and available for playback for one month.
