Flushing Meadows Corona Park Walking Tour
When and where
Date and time
Saturday, October 13, 2018 · 1 - 3pm EDT
Location
Queens Museum Queens, NY 11368
Description
Join us as we co-host a tour that explores the rich historic architecture of two World's Fairs and many of the structures that still exist and have been renovated in this Tour of Flushing Meadows Corona Park, led by licensed tour guide and former AIA Queens Chapter President, Bill Gati, RA, AIA.
We will see the Unisphere, the NYS Pavilion, the Tent of Tomorrow, the Queens Museum, the Queens Theater, NYS Hall of Science, Queens Zoo and the newly renovated USTA Tennis Center.
As architects, engineers and lovers of history, we can learn so much from the styles, materials and methods of construction. We can also learn how urban planners were able to preserve nature and position structures among some of the most spectacular views and greenery.
AIA Queens will be offering 2 LU/HSW credits
