Event description

Description

The Department of Labor proposed on March 7, 2019, an increase in the salary-level threshold for white-collar exemptions to $35,308 per year from $23,660. If finalized, the proposal will result in the reclassification by employers of more than a million currently exempt workers as nonexempt and an increase in pay for others above the new threshold.

This workshop will provide you with practical insights for not only ensuring compliance with current requirements, but also help you be more prepared for updates when finalized.

In addition to the legislative update, you will review the “basics” of Oregon Wage & Hour and FLSA rules, as well as dive into the top problem areas for employers.

What you will gain:

  • Ensure you are complying with current requirements under FLSA and Wage & Hour regulations.
  • Review the top challenges employers face with classifying workers and administering wages, including calculations of overtime and permissible deductions.
  • Understand how the latest legislation affects your policies and practices and steps you can take to maintain a fair and professional workplace.

Who should attend?

  • Organizational leaders interested in staying abreast of employer compliance and implementing effective practices
  • HR & Payroll professionals looking to ensure effective risk management and compliance with current regulations
