Flowing & Flying is an Annual Juried National Exhibition of artworks that feature waterscapes such as the ocean, lakes, ponds, rivers, wetlands, and swamps, and/or the birds that inhabit them.

Please join us for the Opening Reception on Thursday, August 14th, 5:30 - 7:30pm.

Exhibition on view Saturday, August 9th - Saturday, September 6th, 2025, 10am - 5pm, Tuesday - Saturday, and until 7pm on Thursdays.

Flowing and Flying is Presented by Santiago Alvarez & Darrell Roche and also sponsored by Justin & Andrea Conrad, Arthur & Matt Fass, and Michael Kienke & Christian Limberg.

During the Dual Opening Reception, there will be a silent auction that highlights the true collaborative spirit of our community with an artistic partnership between the Elizabeth River Trail Foundation and residents at Harbor's Edge. Four unique handmade birdhouses, featuring Linda Parks' original designs, were then artistically painted by life-long artists in various stages of care at Harbor's Edge and will be offered for auction.

Each birdhouse will be auctioned along with an accompanying "nest" handmade by ERT Foundation Director and Poet-Artist Kindra McDonald Greene and will include a story of the artist-resident who painted the house.

The LENS ERT Exhibit in The Vault will also be on view during this time.

LENS ERT is an exhibition of photographs taken by Hampton Roads Photographers. The d’Art Center is working with the ERT to create more local awareness and understanding of this 10.5-mile trail!

For the Elizabeth River Trail to accomplish its mission of becoming an inclusive, connected urban trail and a model of waterfront trail resilience, it needs support from the community!
