About the Workshop:
Florida First Detector is an multiagency educational initiative designed to enhance early detection of exotic, invasive pests that threaten Florida’s agriculture, nursery industries, natural areas, and residential landscapes.

Audience: Florida's full-time and seasonal residents, landscape & nursery professionals, Master Gardeners, Master Naturalists, forestry and natural areas staff.

This workshop provides practical training with hands-on activities and expert-led presentations, covering:

  • Invasive insect pests & plant diseases
  • Sample submission to UF’s Insect ID Lab and Plant Diagnostic Center
  • Use of pest collection and ID tools
