Flight Pattern: A Conversation in Performance by Raja Feather Kelly
Overview
Flight Pattern: A Conversation in Performance by Raja Feather Kelly
Flight Pattern is a choreopoem tracing the journeys of queer African American soldiers across U.S. wars—from WWI and WWII to Iraq and Afghanistan. Blending poetry, dance, and dialogue, it moves through violence, resistance, and moments of spiritual awakening.
This event features a short archival video from the early development of Flight Pattern, capturing Raja Feather Kelly and Darrel Alejandro Holnes’s collaborative exploration of performance and interdisciplinary storytelling. A conversation will follow, reflecting on the work’s evolution, new performance vocabularies, and the larger vision of the project. The program may include a brief live excerpt and a look ahead to Flight Pattern’s next phase in 2026.
