What is a Color Run 5K?

The Color Run 5K is a fun run where participants are showered with colored powder at various points along the course. It's a non-competitive event focused on fun, fitness, and community.

Do I need to be a runner to participate?

Nope! The event is open to all fitness levels. You can run, jog, walk, or even dance through the course. Just have fun!

Is the run timed?

The run is for all types of fitness levels, from seasoned runners to those who wish to walk. We do not have bibs or timing methods, and individuals are encouraged to go at their desired pace.

What is the course route and what should I expect?

We will be doing the Sertoma Park 5K loop, starting at shelter 10. We will have five different colored splash zones along the route with one water station. A map will be coming soon!

Can I pick up my shirt ahead of time?

Why are the color splash stations slightly off to the side of the path?

Accepted Answer

We want to be great neighbors to everyone who uses the trails. Since the color run is during a prime time when many may be at Sertoma Park, the color splash zones are slightly off to the side to allow everyone fair access to the trail without getting color on their clothing, shoes, or furry friends.

Is the colored powder safe?

Yes, the colored powder is made from food-grade cornstarch and non-toxic dyes. Although it is safe, avoid getting it into your eyes and breathing it in. We recommend always consulting with a medical provider before participating in a physical event.

What should I wear?

Each participant will receive a white event t-shirt if registered before the deadline. White or light clothing will show the colors best. Although the color should wash out, we recommend wearing clothing and shoes you won’t mind getting stained. Many participants also wear sunglasses.

Will the color wash out of my clothes and hair?

Accepted Answer

The color is designed to wash out of most fabrics, although it’s best to wear items you don’t mind getting stained. For hair, the powder usually washes out with regular shampoo. You may want to test a few strands of hair ahead of time if you use dyes or products that may cause the color to bleed.

Do I need to register in advance?

For a guaranteed shirt, please register by the deadline. Day of registration is available at the event but please note, shirts are limited and may not be available after the order date.

How can I protect my phone and other valuables?

To protect your phone and valuables, consider leaving them in your vehicle, using a plastic bag or waterproof pouch.

What if I have a medical condition or allergy?

If you have any medical conditions or allergies, consult with your doctor before participating.

Are there any tips for cleaning up after the event?

Bringing towels or wet wipes for a quick initial cleanup is helpful. A change of clothes is also recommended. Unfortunately, we won’t have an air compressor to help blow off color from hair, clothing, and strollers.

Is there a charity component to the event?

Yes! The Fit 4 Victory Color Run proceeds will help provide vouchers for group fitness and personal training to individuals who struggle with mental health and substance use issues.

Can I bring my pet?

Accepted Answer

Although we love dogs, the color powder may affect them differently. Therefore, we strongly recommend not taking them with you.

How can I volunteer or become a sponsor?

Volunteers are needed for tasks like setting up, handing out water, throwing colors, and cleaning up. Contact us on how to sign up!

What happens if it rains or the weather is unfavorable?

Accepted Answer

We plan to hold the event rain or shine. However, severe weather like a downpour, strong winds, and/or lightning may lead to cancellations for the safety of everyone involved. In the event we need to cancel due to weather, please check for an official announcement on our Facebook page.

Can I get a refund?

Since this is a charitable event, and all proceeds will go towards providing vouchers, we are unable to provide refunds.
