First-time homebuyers programs, grants and assistance programs enhance buyers’ chances of owning homes in a particular geographic areas or help borrowers in certain professions, such as educators, first responders or active-duty military and veterans achieve the American Dream of homeownership.

Mortgage companies recognizes that down payments, closing cost and prepaids are stumbling blocks for many potential first-time home buyers. There are a number of grants and programs that offer financial help.

Keep in mind, home buyers must apply through the specific mortgage program approved lender. Not all lenders sponsor and assistance programs. These first-time home buyer programs have certain restrictions and qualifications that must be met.
