First Response (half day)
Overview
This face-to-face session is for adult volunteers within The Scouts who need to complete or renew First Response training.
Volunteers must complete the pre-requiste e-learning and submit a copy of their certificate to the trainer before attending the face to face session. The e-learning will take approximately 3 hours and can be done in stages (it doesn't have to be completed in one sitting). Please use this link to access the e-learning: https://hampshire-scouts.thinkific.com/courses/firstresponse
The face-to-face session will recap and validate the e-learning and cover the practical requirements for First Response through a mixture of quizzes, small group work, discussions and practical scenarios/demonstrations.
The practical aspects will include, assessing a scene and treating an unconscious breathing casualty, and demonstrating CPR for both adults and children – these will typically involve working on the floor so you will need to dress appropriately.
If you have any medical issues or learning needs that may affect your participation in the course, please let the trainer know so they can discuss reasonable adjustments.
If you’ve not been to Gosforth’s HQ before, it’s on the Wasdale Road opposite St Mary’s church and between the primary school and Bradbury House care home (Google maps; ///rather.bitter.cashier).
