About this event

If you are interested in joining the September 2025, Winter class, please attend an information session by August 12th.

First Course NYC is not a cooking class - this program is for eligible New Yorkers who are passionate about starting their career in a restaurant kitchen, and are willing and able to commit to full-time training and restaurant work.

Eight weeks of intensive pre-employment training will prepare you to begin work as a paid, full-time employee in a restaurant kitchen where you will continue to learn while working and earning. The program team and your restaurant supervisors will provide the support and guidance needed to help overcome challenges to success.

Trainees who prove they are committed, dependable employees by the end of the program will advance to become a permanent employee in a starting cook position best suited to their skill level. Success is up to you!

Interested? Attend a virtual info session where you will learn more about the program requirements and receive a link to complete an online program application. If your application is accepted, you will be invited to participate in an in-person Tryout Day and interview at a partnering restaurant.

You will need to attend an info session to apply.
