Fireside on the Farm - Fall Fundraiser

Come join us at Finca Tres Robles for a cozy evening by the fire at our fall fundraiser!

Enjoy delicious sweet and savory s'mores, Tacos El Nene, DJ sets with Ice House Radio, live music with Son Bayou, and craft cocktails and wine. We will also have a special fireside storyteller - Texas Poet Laureate Emeritus Lupe Mendez!

Your support helps advance our mission of sustainable farming and community engagement in 2nd Ward. See you there!

We have two ticket options for this event:

  • General Admission tickets are $75, plus a $6.88 processing fee.
  • A Supporter Ticket option, which includes an additional donation to support our Neighborhood Food Access (NFA) program, which allows us to deliver healthy food directly to our neighbor's doors!

Keep reading below for details about our entertainment and sponsors.

Son Bayou is a Colombian cumbia band from Houston, known for blending traditional roots music with a modern, street-style sound featuring heavy accordion and percussion. The band, founded by Ramiro Rodriguez and Juan Torres, started in local Houston flea markets and house parties, gaining recognition for their energetic live performances and connection to their Northside roots. They have played at venues like the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston and are a staple of the local cumbia scene, performing at events like Noche de Cumbia.

Ice House Radio is a Houston-based community radio station that broadcasts live from a former car wash. It was founded in January 2024 to provide a platform for Houston's diverse music scene. The station broadcasts online, can be heard at its physical location, and has its past broadcasts available on YouTube.

Ladies of Libation is a Houston-based bar and event consulting company founded by hospitality veterans Laurie Harvey and Kris Sowell. They specialize in creating custom cocktail programs for bars and restaurants and curating beverage experiences for events and parties. They'll be bringing their iconic bar The Pearl, pictured above, along with a special menu just for us!

Our fireside storyteller for the evening is the one and only Lupe Mendez!

Originally from Galveston, TX, Lupe Mendez (Writer//Educator//Activist) is the author WHY I AM LIKE TEQUILA (Willow Books, 2019), winner of the 2019 John A. Robertson Award for Best First Book of Poetry from the Texas Institute of Letters. He is the founder of Tintero Projects which works with emerging Latinx writers and other writers of color. Mendez is Texas Poet Laureate Emeritus (Texas Poet Laureate 2022 - 2023).
