About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 30 minutes

The fireflies are out en masse and they put on a spectacular show this time of year! We'll set out just before sunset and meander through open meadows as the fireflies awaken from their slumber and begin to display their love language. Meet in the Visitor’s Center courtyard. The hike will be about 4 miles, leashed dogs are welcome. Max: 40 people.

NOTE: Rideshare apps such as Lyft and Uber will NOT pick you up from the Preserve entrance (125 Phelps Way Pleasantville) after dark. Please plan rides accordingly.

We leave promptly at scheduled times. This is a night hike, after the park has closed. Latecomers will not be able to join after the group has departed.

In the event of rain, the hike may be canceled or postponed; you will be notified via email by 2 pm the day of the hike.

Rockefeller State Park Preserve was created through several farsighted and generous gifts to the State of New York by the Rockefeller Family since 1983. It is designated as a “park-preserve” to highlight and protect its natural, historical, and cultural values. Its network of carriage trails wind through scenic forests, fields, and wetlands, which provide important habitat for native plants and wildlife.

The Preserve Office and Gallery are open daily from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM and are located at 125 Phelps Way, Pleasantville, N.Y. 10570.
