Finding Your Voice: Memoir Writing and Publishing Workshop [ONLINE]

Do you have a story to tell? Whether it’s memoir, fiction, or a mix of both, this workshop is your opportunity to transform your ideas into polished prose and discover the world of publishing. Join Dr. Emma Robdale and renowned author Mir Rahimi for an insightful, hands-on masterclass designed to guide you through the art of creative writing and the process of publishing your own work.
What to Expect:
1. Memoir Writing Workshop (Creative Writing)
Led by Dr Emma Robdale, whose research specialises in Creative Writing and Performance Studies, she is a creative writing lead for BTS (Beyond the Spectrum) and previously lectured at the University of Kent. She will be conducting the first half of the workshop, which will focus on memoir writing. Whether you have a story in progress or are just starting, this session will help you shape your personal experiences into compelling narratives. Through writing exercises and group discussions, you’ll explore how to turn memory into rich, engaging prose. You’ll also gain tools to discover your authentic voice and use your own experiences to craft stories that resonate with readers.
2. Publishing Insights with Mir Rahimi
In the second half, Mir Rahimi, author of Across the Mountains, Land and Sea: One Boy’s Extraordinary Journey (published by Orion Publishing Group). Mr Rahimi has worked with charities, local authorities, international NGOs, and the United Nations across continents—including in Africa, Australia, Europe, the Middle East and the UK; he will take you behind the scenes of the publishing world. Learn how to navigate the often confusing maze of getting your book into print. Rahimi will share invaluable insights on the writing and publishing process, from manuscript submission to marketing your book. This session will also include a Q&A, so bring your questions for personalized advice.
