Event description
Examining our hormone cycles through improvised theatre

About this event

In this 4-session course, we will explore how menstruation and the cycles of our body can be utilised to make our improvisation and performance easier, more fun, and more engaging.

This course examines our connection with our hormonal cycles, for anyone whose body or spirit has a relationship to menstruation. The course is not designed to only cater to cis-women, and TERFs and anti-trans sentiment will not be met with welcome in this space. We will explore the seasons of our bodies and examine our strengths and limitations in each of these different intervals.

What to expect

  • Exploring our bodies and hormone fluctuations.
  • Understanding the phases of the menstrual cycle.
  • Self-reflection and group reflections on how our cycles interact with our performance.
  • Applying this knowledge to our improvisation.
  • Longform play and practice.

This open 4-session course runs on the 27th of August, and the 1st, 12th, and 17th sept, from 10am – 12.30pm UK Time. Whether you are a veteran improviser, or have never touched a stage, this will be a playful, intimate, and fun session where you can explore your cycle.

The class is fully adaptable for audio-only participants, and closed captioning is available. If you require any other accommodations, please contact rhiannonjenkins@live.co.uk

Full or partial bursaries are available; please get in touch on rhiannonjenkins@live.co.uk to enquire.
