Event description

Description

“Take your time” is an endearing term, but how to find time can be a mystery. Many writers who have taken on a full time life with spouses, children, and/or careers are finding it difficult to fit writing into their busy schedules. “Full” implies that there is no room left, but just like you save enough space for the dessert that you’re craving, you can save enough space for the writings that you’re craving as well. If you’re a writer with no time write, but know that it’s time to write your heart’s desire, use your time wisely and join us for workshop that helps you find the time to “take” your time; because after all it belongs to you.

About the Instructor: Poet Laureate of Alexandria, Virginia, award winning poet and author of three works of fiction entitled: IN REAL LIFE, THE COLOR BLUE, & THE OTHER SIDE OF PRETTY, three poetry books entitled: KANIKKI WHO? and THE SKILLZ OF A SISTAH, ALABAMA GIRL, VIRGINIA WOMAN, and one memoir entitled: A PEACE OF MINE, How to be the Wife of an Epileptic, Honor your Vows and Honor Yourself; KaNikki Jakarta is living up to her name that is interpreted as “great writer”. With over twenty six years of writing and over a decade on the poetry scene, KaNikki Jakarta has toured the US and the UK as a performance poet. KaNikki J. writes and recites what she calls “real life fiction” that touches her listeners to the core. She hosts a 1st Mondays Open Mic Night at Busboys and Poets in Arlington, Virginia perfectly titled #KaNikkiHarmony. She is the co-founder of NUSPA (National Underground Spoken word Poetry Awards). She happily facilitates a women’s writer’s workshop entitled WRITE LIKE A WOMAN in Alexandria, Virginia. KaNikki J. is a success at multi-tasking wearing many hats: poet, author, facilitator, and organizer. If you think that something she says on the mic might change your life, you’re probably right.

Scholarships are available for this workshop, along with alternate payment methods. For more information, please send an email to MoonLit.Kris@gmail.com.
