In this four session workshop, Lisa Gorrell will feature interactive exploration of websites and records with exercises that will cover the types of deeds found in the original thirteen states including those that were part of Virginia and North Carolina (Tennessee & Kentucky), and those that were independent republics before joining the union (Hawaii and Texas). Attendees will learn the terminology, the components, and the key information to extract. Also, there will be practice in platting a deed.

Requirements:

1) Ability to have two screens: Either two monitors connected to one computer, or by logging into class with a tablet or phone and doing the hands-on activities on a computer connected to the internet.

2) Account with FamilySearch.org (free)

3) Materials: clear protractor, small rule, graph paper

The event will take place via Zoom. If you join, please sign in early to make sure you are able to see the program.  We will send you instructions the night before, and a reminder shortly before the event, which will give you access. Please note all times are Pacific Standard Time

You do not have to have a Zoom account to attend a Zoom meeting. You will be prompted to download the software, once you have clicked on the link that you have been provided. You may also wish to create an account, but that is not required to participate in a Zoom meeting.
