Filipinotown Magazine Community Storytelling Series
Overview
Filipinotown Magazine was created to celebrate the our Filipino American's community beauty, strength and brilliance. On Sunday December 21 we look to gather and communially celebrate 2 stories from our second Seattle issue.
We will view 2 interviews/mini-docuentaries. First from King County Superior Court Judge Benjamin Santos, who has family history that starts at the famed Bush hotel in Seattle's International District and includes the purchase of our iconic FCS Filipino Community Center. Second from A Resting Place founder Derek Dizon who continues our community's long standing presence in the CID, creating a space for community to explore and to navigate our own grief.
After both screenings we our honored that both Justice Benjamin Santos and Derek Dizon will be present for a live Q&A session to discuss their stories further.
We would want to note that because of the many ways A Resting Place continues to support our community, we want to do what we can to return support towards this beautiful work. And so a portion of the proceeds from every ticket sold as well as food and beverage sales will be donated to help meet funding goals A Resting Place has for the end of the year.
We look forward to celebrating these Filipino American stories with you!
