FIELDRESS

[ listen ] [ instagram ]

Fieldress refuses to be boxed in. Sometimes dreamy, sometimes psychedelic indie pop... sometimes jazz? The Oakland-based project shapeshifts between genres, crafting dynamic, melancholic songs woven with haunting harmonies.

Founded in 2018 by Sasha Reynolds and Zach Farhney, Fieldress began as a two-piece, with both musicians intertwining delicate yet expressive guitar lines to create rich, textured soundscapes. Over time, the project evolved into a full-band exploration of sound, now featuring Sasha Reynolds (lead vocals, guitar), Omi Golucino (bass), Marissa Deitz (cello, vocals), Phil Di Leo (guitar, vocals), and Francisco Camacho (drums). At the heart of Fieldress is Sasha Reynolds—a devoted creator. Her artistry extends beyond music, shaping every aspect of the project with an unmistakable personal touch. That craftsmanship is especially present in this self-released record and is a testament to the band’s hands-on approach to their art.

On June 27th, Fieldress released their debut full-band album, It’s a Lot. This will be their first time playing The Red Museum, so please give them a warm welcome.

PROBLEM PLAYS

[ listen ] [ instagram ]

Problem Plays is an indie rock band that formed in Stockton, California in 1989. For most of their career, the group consisted of Damian Ortellado (vocals and guitar), Sam Fields (bass), and Sam Benavidez (drums). They attracted considerable underground attention with their "erratic and erotic" early performances, but avoided press. Gradually evolving into a more polished band, Problem Plays recorded two albums over the course of their decade-long career, before disbanding in 1999 with the members citing "irreconcilable differences and loss of physical chemistry." They undertook a well-received international reunion tour from 2022-2024, and they are chuffed for their first visit to the Red Museum. Their new project 'Ding Ding Magic' will be available on July 18th in record stores across America and the cosmos.

Frequently asked questions

all ages?

Yes. Bring your ID!

why, is there a bar?

Yes, we have beer and wine for sale. Certain shows may also have a special batch-made cocktail.

ok now what's this "benefit bar" ..? what's that all about?

It's a working title. For certain shows where we have a nonprofit sponsoring the event, we'll donate a percentage of our bar sales to that nonprofit.

how charitable and cool.. so when does music start?

Thanks! Music starts at 8:00 and doors open at 7:00. Getting here before 8 really helps everything start on time, too. Can't emphasize that enough.

how so?

You might be familiar with this scenario: It's 7:58pm. There are 25 people in the audience, but we'd like there to be more, so we push the start time by 15-20 mins to allow for latecomers. It's now 8:15 with 40 attendees. Better! The more it feels like a decent crowd, the more on time we can start.

okay okay i get it, anything else?

We've got a big concrete backyard with a fire pit and plenty of seating. In efforts to be respectful of the neighboring warehouse spaces (mostly art studios) and property lines, we have to keep everyone from going beyond our own zone. Sucks to have to be strict about it but we've gotten complaints.

damn.. ok anything else??

There's only one bathroom, and it's inside! If you have the capability to do yer whiz biz comfortably outdoors, that might be easier if you can find a secluded area. (Hint: it's out back, to the right, and around the corner on the hill by the dumpsters. Real ones know.)
