Frequently asked questions

Can I get a refund after purchasing my ticket?

Refunds are available up to five days before the event. If you can no longer attend, you may also transfer your ticket to someone else. To request a transfer, please contact programming@kansascity.aiga.org.

Do I need to bring any supplies?

We’ll have basic sketching, collage, and coloring materials available. We strongly encourage you to bring your favorite supplies, a personal sketchbook, or your kids’ favorite coloring book.

What should I wear?

Dress comfortably and for the weather. We’ll start inside the Environmental Education Visitors Center before we head outside to the gardens. Sunscreen, hats, and layers are a great idea. If you plan to sit and draw, maybe bring a small blanket or towel.

Do I need to be “good at art” to come?

Not at all. This event is all about creative play, relaxation, and exploration. Whether you draw daily or haven’t picked up a paintbrush since third grade, you’re welcome.

Can I bring my kids or family?

Yes! Families and children are welcome. We’ll have activities for all ages and a low-pressure, come-as-you-are atmosphere.

Where is the event located?

We’ll be at the Environmental Education Visitors Center located at 8909 W. 179th Street, Overland Park, KS 66013. A map and directions will be provided on our socials and via email.

What time should I arrive?

Doors open at 9:30 a.m. Katya Ross’s talk will begin shortly after 10 a.m., so we recommend arriving 10–15 minutes early to get settled and meet your fellow field trippers.

Will there be food or drinks?

We recommend bringing a refillable water bottle and any snacks you or your kids might want. We’ll have Lovely Day Coffee serving their tasty drinks so you can get your caffeine fix before we dive into activities.

What if it rains?

We’ve got a rain plan! We’ll notify you of any changes in our plans via email and Instagram (@aigakc).

How much are tickets and what do they include?

Tickets are $25 for non-AIGA members, $20 for AIGA members and $10 for children. Tickets include access to the gardens, Katya’s talk, a coffee from Lovely Day coffee, and art supplies you can borrow.

I have another question. Who can I contact?

Send us a message on Instagram (@aigakc) or email programming@kansascity.aiga.org. We’re happy to help.
