About The Space Orchestra:
On a cosmic night in April 2018, 13 talented musicians from North Bay united to revive a musical milestone, captivating a sold-out crowd as they paid homage to the legendary concert of March 1970 at New York’s Fillmore East. This iconic show, led by the brilliant songwriter Leon Russell and featuring the extraordinary vocals of Joe Cocker, was immortalized in the live album Joe Cocker: Mad Dogs and Englishmen. Today, Petaluma’s The Space Orchestra stands as an eclectic ensemble of rock, blues, and country all-stars, renowned for their remarkable contributions to the Bay Area music scene.
With a dynamic configuration that includes a three-piece horn section, four mesmerizing backup singers, and a powerhouse rhythm section, The Space Orchestra masterfully replicates the iconic sound of the original live album, performing it in its entirety, from side A to side B.
Fronting the band, singer-songwriter Sebastian Saint James embodies Cocker’s lead vocals and electrifying stage presence, breathing new life into timeless classics. With each performance, the band takes the audience on a journey through unforgettable hits by legends such as the Rolling Stones, Isaac Hayes, Otis Redding, and Bob Dylan. Notable highlights of their set include lively renditions of “Delta Lady,” “Space Captain,” “Feeling Alright,” and a joyous version of “She Came in Through the Bathroom Window.”
The Space Orchestra continues to build its legacy, creating a beautiful blend of nostalgia and musical exploration that resonates deeply with audiences, ultimately ensuring that the spirit of this rock-and-roll classic lives on.
Don’t miss your chance to see the Space Orchestra light up the universe at Griffo Distillery.
