February 2026 Minority Supplemental Bar Review Program
Overview
The purpose of the Minority Supplemental Bar Review Program is to advance diversity within the Delaware Bar by empowering minority bar applicants with the knowledge, mentorship, and support needed to succeed on the Delaware Bar Exam. It is designed to provide supplemental support to any law school graduate who is registered to take the Delaware Bar Examination and who has or will enroll in a commercial substantive bar review course. The Program is a supplemental course and is not designed to compete with or replace an applicant's commercial bar review course. The Program focuses on strategies tailored to the Delaware Essay Examination and is designed to complement each applicant's substantive bar review preparation. The Program is carried out through a combination of lectures, discussion groups, peer-review exercises, one-on-one interactions, coaching, and the administration of previous Delaware Bar exams. Members of the Delaware Bar volunteer their time as teachers, mentors, and coaches. The Program emphasizes time and stress management, analytical reasoning, effective writing for the bar examination, and proper answer structure. While some substantive Delaware law is covered, the primary focus of the Program is exam strategy and performance skills. Attendance and active participation in each session are required.
The Multicultural Judges and Lawyers (“MJL”) Section of the Delaware State Bar Association sponsors and administers the Minority Supplemental Bar Review Program. The Vice-Chairs of Law School Outreach oversee all aspects of administration, including developing the program schedule, circulating registration materials, and selecting and reproducing past Delaware Bar Exam essays for use in the evening sessions. The Vice-Chairs also assign mentors to each Program participant, coordinate graders for practice exams, and attend each Program session to ensure consistency and support.
There are two key rules that guide participation in the Program. First, full participation is vital. Participants who miss more than one session may be asked to withdraw from the Program. Second, enrollment in a commercial bar review course is required, as this program is designed to supplement, not replace, comprehensive bar preparation. Participants who cannot meet these requirements should refrain from registering. Due to logistical constraints, the MJL can provide additional testing time for Program participants requiring accommodations only during the Saturday simulation session, upon request.
The Program meets every Thursday evening for eight consecutive weeks leading up to the Delaware Bar Exam and concludes with a Saturday, four-essay simulation session, two weeks before the exam. We note that attendance and active participation are both expected and required. There is a $150.00 (USD) registration fee for participation in the Program.
