How long is a Feather River Floating Classroom public tour?

Accepted Answer

Each public tour will take a total of 2 hours and 15 minutes, including checking in and the return shuttle.

Question 2

Will there be a shuttle back to the hatchery?

Accepted Answer

Yes! An electric shuttle bus will transport all participants back to the hatchery at the end of your tour.

Question 3

Where should I park?

Accepted Answer

Please park in the east (lower) parking lots at the Feather River Fish Hatchery, near the Fish Barrier Dam and the fish viewing windows and meet under the Table Mountain Blvd. green historic bridge to check in at your tour time.

Question 4

Where are the restrooms located?

Accepted Answer

The most reliable (clean) restrooms are located at the Feather River Fish Hatchery,   Please use the restroom near the east parking lot BEFORE your tour begins.  If you park in the upper west parking lot, there are no restrooms nearby and you will have a longer walk to meet under the green bridge.

Question 5

What happens if I’m late?

Accepted Answer

Rafts may depart without you. Rafts will depart as soon as everyone has their life jackets and the introductory and safety discussions are completed.

Question 6

How should I dress to prepare for this guided tour?

Accepted Answer

Please check the forecast and wear: Water shoes or secure sandals that can get wet; Shorts or quick dry pants to walk in water;  Sun protection - hat, sunscreen, lip balm, etc., even during cloudy conditions;  Warm layers, if it will be cold &/or windy; Rain jacket, if rain is expected.

Can I bring a water bottle?

Accepted Answer

Yes!  We encourage everyone to bring a plastic or stainless-steel water bottle to stay hydrated.  No glass containers allowed.

Question 8

Can I bring a bag or purse?

Accepted Answer

If you don't mind it getting wet, you may bring a small bag (ideally smaller than a  gallon of milk). There will be 1 small drybag on board to be shared by raft participants for keys, wallets, etc. However, the drybag will be stowed unless access is required while underway (e.g., medications).

Can I bring a cell phone, camera, and/or binoculars?

Accepted Answer

Yes! You may bring a phone, camera, or binoculars, but you are responsible for keeping any fragile and electronic items in your possession. If you stow any items in the community drybag, you will do so at your own risk in terms of possible damage, and they will not be accessible while rafting.

Question 10

What happens if the required Acknowledgement of Risk online forms are not submitted?

Accepted Answer

Free public tour tickets will be forfeited for ANY registered guests that have not submitted their required online Acknowledgement of Risk form within 3 days of registration. No exceptions.

Question 11

Are kids allowed to attend?

Accepted Answer

Yes!  Children ages 5 and older are welcome to attend.

Question 12

Do we need to submit an Acknowledgment of Risk form for children?

Accepted Answer

Yes!  The legal parent or guardian MUST sign an Acknowledgement of Risk  form within 3 days of registering for tickets for EACH child who is eligible to participate (ages 5 through 17).  Note that all of the information requested on the form must be submitted.  No exceptions.

Question 13

Can I guess my life jacket size or my children's weights when I sign the Docusign from?

Accepted Answer

Please be accurate. Life jackets are based on weight or circumference: e.g., CHILD = 30 - 50 lbs. YOUTH = 50 - 90 lbs.   ADULT >90 lbs & 30 - 50 inches. XL > 90 lbs & 40 - 60 inches.  XXL > 90 lbs and 60 - 70 inches. This information will also be used to ensure the rafts will be weighted properly.

Question 14

Can I use nicknames when I register guests?

Accepted Answer

No. Please fill in the registration information accurately using the legal name for EACH participant.  Tickets will be forfeited if a nickname provided during registration does not match the legal name that is submitted on the required online Acknowledgement of Risk form. No exceptions.

Question 15

If any of my tickets are forfeited, can I re-register for new tickets?

Accepted Answer

Yes! If tickets were forfeited, you can reserve up to 4 total tickets on a first-come, first-served basis if there are still tickets available.  However, if all tickets have been reserved, you may join the waitlist to have the opportunity to book any tickets that become available. No exceptions.

Question 16

Is there drinking, smoking or vaping allowed?

Accepted Answer

No. This is a family friendly event there will be zero tolerance of drinking, smoking and vaping, whether or not children are present.  For the safety of all participants, no one under the influence of drugs or alcohol will be permitted to participate. No exceptions.
