‘CAN DIALECTICS BREAK BRICKS?’ By René Vienet Is a unique example of ‘détournement’, wherein existing media is hijacked to create a subversive new message, This movie redubs and reimagines the existing kung-fu thriller The Crush (1972) into a riveting and hilarious exercise in class consciousness, Marxist diatribes and flying fists!

This work is straight out of the French situationist movement as it critiques state capitalist bureaucracy by twisting and subverting cinema itself in order to jolt us all out of passive consumption of movies and to start throwing hands! This screening is in collaboration with Kinomad and @kitramsayisdead ❤️ and it will take place in a new location in Mare Street Market (Hackney)
